Interpretation & Education
When we take time to understand and interpret our landscape we can begin to appreciate how change impacts upon it. Learning about the environment helps us to acquire new perspectives, values, knowledge and skills.
With these we can weigh various sides of an environmental issue and individually and/or collectively begin to make informed decisions and take responsible actions.
Here at Dart Estuary Environmental Management (DEEM) we aim to increase the public's awareness and knowledge about environmental issues or problems and opportunities affecting the river and estuary. In September 2004 DEEM helped organise the first ever Dart Water Festival to encourage local people to learn more about the river.
DEEM also organises the Dart Forum, an opportunity to debate issues relating to the estuary.
